Growing Food
Growing food sounds easy enough, and there are MANY ways to grow food - minimalist to extraordinary. There are also obstacles - unpredictable weather, soil health, water availability, etc.
Growing your own food is one of the best ways to supply yourself with fresh and healthy food. It is also a great way to support your neighbors and/or community.
One huge component of Food is Free is Front Yard Gardens, but there are several other ways to contribute to your community.
share seeds - create a community growing space - encourage the planting of fruit trees.
There are so many ways to create accessible food!

The Food is Free Project is an open-source community building and gardening project lining blocks with front yard community gardens built from salvaged materials. Plant a front yard garden and share the harvest with your neighbors. It's a simple idea, and maybe a little unique but 19 of the 30 homes on our block host a garden, and now our neighborhood not only shares veggies and smiles but even tools and a compost pile. Start a Food is Free Project in your town and start inspiring and engaging your community. It starts with your first garden.
Onward and upward!
